I am excited to announce that I’ll be bringing our brand of delicious and simple street food to the Maltby Street Market this July and August in association with one of our suppliers and supporters, Maltby & Greek.
For those who don’t know the Maltby Street Market (made up originally of former traders from Borough Market) has sprung up over the last few years around the ropewalk in Bermondsey. The market has quickly established itself as a destination for London’s ‘foodies’ with big names like St John and 40 Maltby Street operating alongside a whole host of both resident and peripatetic suppliers and producers.
Simple Street Food at Maltby Street – Hungry Donkey
Maltby & Greek are the UK’s leading supplier of premium Greek foods, produce, oils and wine. As well as the distribution and sales to the industry Maltby & Greek have become a regular fixture on the market, opening up their railway arch to the public who can sample and buy directly from them.
Over the summer months they also invite some of London’s best Greek restaurants to ‘pop-up’ at their stall on the market to serve authentic and simple Greek street food to London’s hungry hordes.
We’ll be joining them for three weekends from July 23/24 through to August 6/7 on both the Saturday and Sunday of the market. We’ll be cooking our signature souvalki wraps alongside a few other Hungry Donkey staples which you’ll be able to wash down with some Greek craft beers or perhaps sample some of Maltby & Greeks excellent Greek wine (more on that in a future update).
We look forward to seeing you there – and if you can’t make it then remember we are always serving these simple street food dishes, to eat on or take away at Hungry Donkey on Wentworth Street everyday of the week.
